-
- Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” (video, 2:44) reworked specifically for coronavirus-induced virtual teaching (thanks to Beth & Janet from Rice/Johnson)
- McSweeney’s Internet Tendency is a treasure-trove of coronavirus-related hilarity including “Welcome to Your Hastily Prepared College Communication Course” and “Working from Home During a Global Pandemic Bingo” (thanks to Gina from Penn/Wharton)
- Zoooooom: the Drinking Game for Online Classes (from a friend who found on Facebook–no idea how to cite the original author)
- Want to add a really catchy cross-cultural component? Ghen Cô Vy| NIOEH x KHẮC HƯNG (translates to “Jealous Coronavirus,” in a video which runs 3:09) by Min & Erik and created in partnership with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health. The lyrics (with subtitles) are great, the tone is empowering and the behavioral advice is spot on.
- Suggestion: play this video at the beginning of your first virtual class as people are ‘entering the room,’ to confirm that they have at least the settings to hear audio set correctly
- You should also, to cite Ricky Gervais (pictured above), be bullet-proof to accusations of stereotyping since the video was produced by Vietnamese people for Vietnamese people
- Update: see the related dance number on Instagram by im.quangdang
- Coronavirus Memes (including this one that I had to ask my sons to explain to me)
- Here’s the explanation I received: “flexing” means showing off, specifically by showing exclusive or otherwise hard-to-get items you have
