Virtual Teaching: Take Care of YOU Too

    1. Create ‘timed’ playlists–get up and walk around when the music ends
    2. Get outside–even short breaks in fresh air can rejuvenate your health and focus
    3. Find healthy take-out/delivery options–our options are no longer limited to ‘fast food’ as formerly full-service restaurants now offer delivery and pickup
    4. Repurpose your former commute time–use that time to develop a new hobby, skill or interest
    5. Trust yourself–see April’s quote above and know that all you can do is your best which is plenty
    6. Temper the temptation to explore very new techniques–we’ll all learn of new tools and approaches (cool); pick according to your comfort level
    7. Reach out for whatever help you need–the early-stage mad-dash will slow, our IT support teams will become even more responsive, and your colleagues will have the time to chat
    8. Think about doing more with less–see April’s quote and know that the connections remain essential; consider cutting non-essential substance to make everyone’s work easier and to fill that space with interactivity and conversation
    9. Recognize that no one will argue with taking a break–the best advice I’ve received: if (in real-time during class), you get overwhelmed or distracted, calmly call for a stretch break: let everyone step away for 5 minutes, and you can address what needs to be addressed and then get seamlessly back into the game
    10. Play this video as often as you’d like–you are not alone in this adventure, and we’re all here for each other.  We are the MCA!

Kara reminded us all that “Zoom fatigue is real.” which reminded me of a great article from friend and colleague Mike Christian: Staying Resilient in Uncertain Times–a quick and informative read
